Form Checklist (No Fake Pro Tips)
Good form is repeatable mechanics—not a viral “one weird fix.” This checklist is for self-review and coaching conversations. It is not a claim about any pro’s private keys.
Backhand self-check
| Checkpoint | Question |
|---|---|
| Balance | Are you finishing upright, or falling off the shot? |
| Grip | Is the disc secure without a death grip? |
| Reach-back | Is the disc on a consistent plane, or dipping wildly? |
| Weight transfer | Are you bracing the front leg instead of spinning out? |
| Release timing | Is the disc leaving when your weight is ready—or early/late panic? |
| Follow-through | Does your arm continue toward the line after release? |
Film yourself from the side and behind (with permission on public courses). Compare week to week—not to a slow-motion tour highlight.
What we will not do
- Invent “pro secrets” or claim insider tour mechanics
- Promise distance gains with a numbered guarantee
- Shame beginners for using midranges instead of distance drivers
Pair with smart bag choices
If form is early-stage, bag putters and midranges that reward clean releases. Read flight numbers so plastic matches intent. Putting has its own page: Putting Basics.
When to get eyes on
Local clubs, league nights, and certified instructors beat anonymous comment threads. Bring specific questions (“I early-release on hyzers”) instead of “fix me.”
